A North Hollywood family wanted their yard to feel like the most-used room in the house - not a feature list. Pool, spa, patio, lounge, planting, and a new ADU placed deep in the lot to serve as a true retreat.
We resolved every element inside one digital twin. Owners walked the property in full-scale VR - pool deck at golden hour, ADU at night, patio under string lights - and signed off on the entire backyard before any trade arrived on site.
Pool, spa, patio and planting as one composition
Water, hardscape and planting were resolved together rather than layered in sequence. Pool placement, spa orientation, deck levels, fire and seating zones, plant masses and tree retention all share one model - so the eye reads a single calm landscape, not a stack of features.
An ADU positioned as a real retreat
The new ADU was sited deep in the lot for privacy, sun and view back across the pool. Same material family as the main residence, same tone of light, same relationship to the garden - so it reads as part of the property rather than a building dropped on it.
Sign-off in VR before the build
Owners walked the entire backyard in a full-scale 360° walkthrough, at the times of day they would actually use it. Materials, lighting scenes, planting, pool tile, spa edge, ADU finishes - all confirmed in the experience, not on a flat plan. Construction started with zero change orders.
