A complete design language, resolved before the build.
A coastal San Diego family wanted their existing home to live differently - more light, more flow, a kitchen they could host from, and a primary suite that felt like a retreat. The footprint stayed; almost everything inside it changed.
We rebuilt the home in 3D first. Every wall move, every cabinet pull, every stone slab was selected and reviewed inside the digital twin before demo. The build moved at remodel speed without remodel surprises - 9 weeks from kickoff to a fully approved design package, zero change orders mid-build.
Light first, then everything else
The existing home read dim and compartmentalized. The remodel program was led by a daylight strategy - wall moves chosen for what they did to natural light at noon, four PM, and seven PM. Material choices followed: pale oak floors, a soft warm-white plaster, stone with movement but never drama.
Kitchen as the center of the house
A reworked plan put the kitchen at the literal center. Custom cabinetry in soft white oak, stone island with a single hand-selected slab, integrated appliances, and layered task and ambient lighting. Designed to host fifteen people and disappear when empty.
A primary suite that exhales
The primary bedroom was rezoned for calm - a long, low headboard wall, hidden closets, a bathroom you walk through to instead of into. Stone is honed, not polished. The space reads like a hotel suite designed by someone who actually sleeps in it.

Coastal Residence · questions.
What was the design scope of the Coastal Residence project?
The Coastal Residence in San Diego, California was a full remodel project where Vividly Built handled the complete design end-to-end. Whole-home interior design and remodel scope, Kitchen redesign with custom cabinetry and stone selection, Master bath and secondary baths - full gut, Living, dining, bedroom FF&E and finish design, Photoreal renderings and 360° walkthroughs, and final FF&E specification - all resolved in a photoreal 3D digital twin before construction.
How long did it take to design the Coastal Residence?
The full design package - every room, every finish, every fixture - was resolved and signed off in 9 weeks. The owners reviewed the entire home in photoreal renderings and a full-scale VR walkthrough before construction began. Zero change orders during the build.
What does Vividly Built mean by "resolved in 3D before the build"?
Every design decision for the Coastal Residence - wall positions, ceiling heights, lighting circuits, stone slabs, fabric, fixtures, furniture - was placed and reviewed inside a photoreal digital twin of the home. The owners walked the entire residence in VR and signed off on every angle before any trade arrived on site. That visualization-first workflow is why our projects ship on time and under change-order pressure.
